Day 3 without Diet Coke

Three days down, a 12-pack saved. And boy, am I paying the price.

Call me crazy, but chai tea in the morning, no matter how good it is with milk and Splenda, does not replace the bubbly goodness that comes in a can.

This is me. I am a Diet Coke addict.

This is the place where you lovingly remind me that giving up soda for Lent is not a bad thing. That pop is bad for my body and the environment. Whatever argument you've got...while I hunt down some more aspirin.

  1. Okay, if this is really what you want... Diet Coke is not food. As in, your body needs food to survive, and highly processed things aren't food. It's kind of a scary mixture of chemicals, and don't forget what it will do to a tooth left in it overnight! Yikes! Who knows what all those non-sugar and other chemicals are saying/doing to your body and what other things they're making your body release in response? Yikes - just googled it, and it's pretty freaky. What a great opportunity you have to (first feel really crappy), then see what it feels like when you're off the stuff : ) And the money savings is great! I generally don't preach, but I hope this helped. In return I'll tell you that I gave up coffee when we decided to try to have a baby, and it truly sucked for a good week, if I remember right. *shiver*

  2. For that matter... you may want to look into exactly what splenda is. It was originally produced when they were trying to find new pesticide options. ick.

  3. Okay..I like Chai Tea, so I don't know how much support you will get from me, but I did quiet smoking 10 years ago, so I know how hard it is to give something up. As you sip your Chai (and down the aspirin) think of all the "more"memories you will be able to share with your Family now that your off the pop!
Good Luck, keep up the good work, maybe even not go back to it after lent???

  4. Thanks for the support! It's getting a little bit easier, but not perfect yet.

Though I'm not sure how many "more" memories I've been giving lately - I have had to sleep so much to make up for the lack of caffeine!

  5. Here you go:
    1. Drinking soda decreases calcium absorption by the body.
    2. The lining of soda contains BPA.
    3. It takes 2200 calories of fossil fuel energy to produce that 1 calorie diet soda.
Just remember, one day at a time. Good luck!
